Elvin Jones’ First Set of 1982 American K Zildjians with Embossed Bag

Shortly after Elvin Jones passed in 2004, his wife Keiko invited me to help her with the massive collection of drum gear Elvin had amassed throughout his career. The collection filled an entire apartment in their New York City apartment building, it was packed floor to ceiling with decades of his precious drum gear. When she offered to sell me the entire collection, I was both exited and intimidated. I was deeply honored to be entrusted with such a historic collection, while at the same time overwhelmed with the responsibility of taking on a collection of this size and importance. This set of K. Zildjian cymbals were some of the most significant items in the entire collection. Elvin Jones was synonymous with the original Turkish K.
