Double-Bass Eighth Notes with Foot Two
By Carmine Appice Excerpted from Realistic Double Feet
On 18th Jun 2021
Realistic Double Feet can be performed on a double-bass drum set or a regular drum set with foot one playing the bass drum and foot two playing the hi-hat. For this exercise, dive into the rhythmic concept first, and then tackle the solo study to combine the rhythms and get the feel of playing them side by side. Carmine Appice has performed with Vanilla Fudge, Rod Stewart, Beck, Bogert & Appice, and Cactus, and has appeared on far too many recordings to list here. With his brother Vinny, he also co-hosts the podcast, Hangin’ & Bangin’. You can purchase Appice’s books—as well as other essential drum titles—at moderndrummer.com/shop.
