A Distinguished Gentleman

My Photographic Journey with Charlie Watts Charlie Watts was a distinguished man, grounded, considerate of others. In 1981, years after we had worked together, he called me from the road when he heard my father passed away. He brought so much to so many, and he was unique among the many who surrounded him. When offered by Modern Drummer to do a small tribute to him, I was glad to accept. Some of the first photographs I took of him were at his country home in Sussex (as I recall). The photographs exist for me almost like an etching of the man that he was—polite and low key. This was shocking to me. He was a Rolling Stone, after all!
