Yamaha Recording Custom Snares are considered by many to be some of the finest drums made for recording or live use. The attention to detail in any of Yamaha’s Recording Custom drums is second to none! The folks at Yamaha sent Modern Drummer some of the new Recording Custom Snares to check out in several different sizes, including some Birch Wood Shells, and some Solid Brass Shells. We’ll start with the wood drums. We received two Yamaha Recording Custom Wood Snares, one in 5.5×14” in a beautiful Classic Walnut finish, and an 8×14” in the Solid Black finish. Both Recording Custom snares had a 6 ply / 6mm thick all Birch shell and bearing edges of 45 degrees with a centered and reinforced vent hole.
