Whom Gods Destroy’s Bruno Valverde

From Maracatu to Metal Brazil is known for its rhythmic contributions to the music world. In music you can’t ignore the Brazilian styles of Samba, Bossa Nova, and Maracatu. But recently Brazil’s contribution to Heavy Metal drumming has been overwhelming with drummers like Igor Cavalera, Aquiles Priester, Eloy Casagrande, and now Bruno Valverde. For Bruno it began when Megadeth guitarist Kiko Loureiro asked him to play some gigs in Brazil with his trio. Later, Kiko asked Bruno to join the band Angra and record their eighth album called Secret Garden. Italian fusion guitarist Fabrizio Bicio Leo came calling and included Valverde on his record Spectrum of My Past. Now Bruno Valverde has joined the band Whom Gods Destroy led by Derek Sherinian and Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal and is featured on their new record Insanium.
