In one of those sci-fi-esque synergies of parallel dimensions, interviewing Carmine and Vinny Appice about their Hangin’ & Bangin’ livestream show is practically like being in an episode. Carmine’s enthusiastic rat-a-tat delivery is often gleefully interrupted with punctuations and elaborations by Vinny or vice-versa, and the interviewer can only face the vortex and try to keep up.
“There’s no format,” says Vinny. “The guests come on and we start yakkin’.”
“It’s not an interview show,” explains Carmine. “It’s a hanging out show. A lot of these people are friends of ours, so we just let everything flow.”
The idea for Hangin’ & Bangin’ kicked off with Carmine’s agent, Steve Love, who simply wanted his client to get some attention on the Internet, as COVID had eradicated opportunities for live shows, seminars, and in-person appearances of all kinds. The first guest was his brother.
“I thought a show about hanging out with me was a good idea,” says Carmine. “But when Vinny was a guest, it immediately became apparent the show would be so much stronger with the two of us together.”
