Carmine Appice’s Ultimate Realistic Rock book is an educational standard in teaching “realistic” rock drumming. The title means you are learning drumming vocabulary (beats and fills) that you would realisticly use in a rock song or band. The recently updated version (called Ultimate Realistic Rock) raises the bar yet again with even more styles, sections, and examples.. In this classic section of the book, he breaks down the sixteenth note triplet and its uses on the snare and bass drum within rock beats. It’s a truly classic sound.
