New Book, Celebrating Vinyl, Saving Animals, and Producing Billy Gibbons Matt Sorum has had about as cool a drumming career as one could possibly hope for. In a business that can be notoriously hard, Sorum has navigated the often-perilous world of rock and roll like the professional he is. He first rose to international fame with The Cult, before moving on to Guns N’ Roses, and, later, Velvet Revolver. Sorum has also worked with everyone from Tori Amos, Poe, Motörhead, Neurotic Outsiders, Camp Freddy, Hollywood Vampires, Geezer Butler, and his own all-star band, Kings of Chaos. At press time, his latest gig was co-producing and playing on (ZZ Top guitarist) Billy Gibbons’ brand new solo album, Hardware [Concord].
