‘Listen, or your tongue will make you deaf.’ Native American proverb Drumming creates SYNERGY. Synergy is when 1 + 1 = 3, it’s when we as a group go to a place that any one of us couldn’t have gotten to on our own. We are stronger together! Drumming can be a solo voice, but more often than not, it’s the foundation for the music we love. The four offenses are about being a giver versus a taker. As servant heroes we can choose to add to the bigger musical vision, not detract from it. Some drummers have flashy technique and all the latest gear, but no one will play with them because they’re breaching the four offenses without even knowing it.
