Custom Lightweight Bass Drum Beater Customizing stuff is one of my guilty pleasures—I’m always “building” cars on manufacturer websites that I have no intention of actually buying—so the opportunity to design my own beater was what initially attracted me to Low Boy. But while I’m extremely fond of my obscene green/purple beater, there’s more to like about these bashers than my crass color palette. The Lightweight Custom Beaters are made from North American hard maple atop a chrome-plated steel rod, and the whole apparatus weighs just 80 grams. The colors and stains are applied by hand. A Standard model that weighs 95 grams is available, and users include Steve Ferrone, Glenn Kotche, Jessica Burdeaux, and Scott Amendola. Both models offer lifetime guarantees.
