Following in the tradition of the legendary Buddy Rich Memorial Concerts founded and started in 1989 by Cathy Rich, Buddy Rich’s daughter put her father’s band back together in 2011 with Gregg Potter at the helm, and they started to tour and present her father’s music to the world once again. Buddy’s drumming, his band’s music, and their recordings inspired (and still inspire) generations of drummers young and old. But we are now entering a third generation of drummers who never even got the opportunity to see and hear Buddy live and in-person. And as someone who saw Buddy live and up-close, I can attest that it was truly a life-changing experience. Next year will mark the 40th year since Buddy’s passing, and he is missed.
