Peregrine

“This is the album I’ve always wanted to make.” Peregrine is the name of my new album. The word means wandering, traveling, or migrating, stemming from Latin for “foreigner” or “traveler.” The peregrine is also a falcon, a bird of prey that has been used as a religious, royal, or national symbol over millennia. Symbols, just like cymbals, can mean different things to different people. My producer Jo Pangilinan saw the bird as we were making this album and she recognized it as a messenger sent by her late husband Mark Brunner, whose life and death are the very reasons for this collaboration. Mark Brunner was my dear friend for many years. He joined Shure Brothers in 1989. We met by way of Shure’s burgeoning line of drum microphones.
