Craig Krampf draws an interesting parallel between sports and music: “I’ve always said that the career of the musician is like the professional athlete. A certain amount of musicians and athletes are good enough in grade school to make high school ball. From there, the survivors and the ones with talent and determination get a chance to play college ball. From there, we go to the farm teams—the station wagons, the touring, the one-nighters, playing rotten, stinking clubs. You hope and pray that you’re good enough to get the call to the big leagues. When you get the call to the big leagues, it’s up to you as to what you do with it.
