It’s just after 9am on a Wednesday morning and Mark Guiliana is brewing coffee at his home in east LA. He’s in-between tour dates with St. Vincent and a trip to NYC to play a week at the Village Vanguard with his quartet. For many drummers today, Mark Guiliana has become somewhat of a household name—his career dotted with collaborations with Brad Mehldau, Matt Cameron, his wife Gretchen Parlato, David Bowie and now St. Vincent. Mark demonstrates an ability to be as diverse as they come, showing up to each opportunity with an open mind and a dedication to honoring the music first and foremost.
