New Yamaha Recording Custom Snare Drums: Aluminum and Stainless Steel

In Modern Drummer’s first look at the new series of Recording Custom Snare Drums, we looked at the Birch and Brass shell models. This time we are going to look at a few more shell versions of this storied series. Steve Gadd was instrumental in developing the series and worked with the Yamaha team in Japan to develop these outstanding offerings. Yamaha’s Recording Custom Snare Drum line is certainly a top pick for many recording artists. Yamaha sent Modern Drummer two more versions in different sizes of the group: Aluminum and Stainless-Steel Snares. These two metal snares share the ranks with the Recording Custom Solid Brass Snares previously reviewed in Modern Drummer. So, let’s continue the tub-thumping and check out these two types of tubs.
