At a drum clinic in England, Shane Hawkins, the son of late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, revealed that his dad’s favorite Foos song to play was actually the track “Low,” not the tune “Aurora,” as commonly suggested.

Shane took part in a drum clinic at The Dead Famous, a cocktail bar in Newquay, England, this past Thursday (May 29th). From behind the kit, he told the crowd, “People say that song ‘Aurora’ was his favorite to play, but that’s a lie.”

He went on to say that Taylor’s true favorite Foo Fighters song to perform was “Low” from 2002’s One by One, but that frontman Dave Grohl didn’t often include it in the setlist. After that introduction, Shane played the drum parts to “Low” like an absolute beast, as seen in the TikTok clip below.

When Foo Fighters began touring a year or so after Taylor’s passing, Grohl would dedicate “Aurora” to Taylor Hawkins at each show, suggesting that it was the late drummer’s favorite song. But, as Shane pointed out, it may not have necessarily been Taylor’s favorite to perform.

Recently, Shane announced that he’d be hitting the road this summer for a US tour with Taylor’s old covers band Chevy Metal. The outing begins July 19th in Denver, with tickets available here.

Meanwhile, Shane continues to be among those rumored as the next drummer for Foo Fighters, who surprisingly let go of Josh Freese last month. As of yet, the band hasn’t made any official announcements regarding a new drummer.
