It Takes a Village to Create a Drummer

Think back to when and how you started drumming? Many of us grew up listening to the radio, hearing recordings, seeing drums on TV, watching MTV, attending concerts, and eventually going to drum clinics, watching drum videos, and going down the drumming rabbit-hole on YouTube. Through these experiences we drew inspiration from the long lineage of the all-time great drummers. But who was the drummer that first inspired you by seeing him or her in-person and up-close? It was probably a local drummer in a band, a friend, a band teacher at school, a parent, a local drum corps or marching band, or a big brother or sister. That is the person who inspired you to want to play the drums. We often forget about our original in-person drumming inspirations, they are very special people.
