Nandi Bushell “Would Have Said YES in a Heartbeat” If Offered Foo Fighters Drummer Gig

Nandi Bushell, the 15-year-old drumming sensation who once defeated Dave Grohl in a drum battle, says she “would have said YES in a heartbeat” if offered Foo Fighters’ recently vacant drummer position.

While the Foos have made no official announcement as of yet, it has been reported that Ilan Rubin has taken over the drum throne for the veteran rock band, replacing the ousted Josh Freese. Ironically, Rubin left Nine Inch Nails for the Foo Fighters gig, while Freese returned to NIN as their new drummer.

Nandi has posted a bevy of YouTube shorts in recent weeks, including drum covers of songs by Misfits, Megadeth, and Iron Maiden. Among the new clips is an absolutely crushing rendition of Foo Fighters’ “The Pretender.”

Just as eye-opening as her performance of “The Pretender” is her caption: “I would have said YES in a heartbeat. Drumming with ‪@foofighters‬ was the best moment in my life.”

Nandi certainly has the chops to drum with Foo Fighters. As she mentioned, she joined the Foos in concert at age 11 in 2021 when she played “Everlong” with the band at the Forum in Los Angeles.

Additionally, her drum battle with Grohl during the pandemic in 2020 was absolutely epic, with the Foo Fighters frontman ultimately declaring Nandi the winner.

Watch Nandi rock Foo Fighters’ “The Pretender” on drums below, followed by a couple of her other recent drum covers.
