1930 Ludwig Peacock Pearl Drum Outfit with original painted Millstream Scene Bass Drum head

The Northup Drums Museum specializes in early jazz drum kits with rare finishes and-or painted heads in near mint original condition. This 1930 Ludwig Peacock Pearl drum outfit fits all of the above criteria. It is featured with the original mint condition factory painted head, in a rare finish, and in nearly unfaded mint condition. The 1928 Ludwig catalog was the first to offer “pearl” pyralin wrapped finishes which included white avalon, emerald green, lavender pearl, turquoise blue, marble pearl, and peacock pearl. Ludwig cataloged the very colorful peacock pearl finish from 1928-32. Pearl finishes tend to change color over time with age and exposure to sunlight. For example, white marine pearl yellows over time and peacock pearl tends to fade and change colors drastically. However, this set has retained its remarkable, nearly perfect, rich, unfaded color.
