Antonio Sanchez SHIFT (Bad Hombre Vol. II.) Warner Music

Antonio Sanchez (Pat Metheny, Michael Brecker, Chick Corea)is proud to be releasing a new recording entitled SHIFT (Bad Hombre Vol. II.)The new recording will be released by Warner Music and features Antonio collaborating with 12 different singers as musical guests. Antonio’s new music will feature the voice and the drums as equal musical partners. Furthermore, Antonio’s arrangements layer the drums as a production tool in the same way that other musicians and producers cover the musical landscape with many tracks of guitar, voice, or keyboards in big modern productions. This approach is helping Antonio create a new texture for his music. SHIFT (Bad Hombre Vol. II.) also features Antonio playing guitar, bass, mandolin, ukulele, keyboards and singing as well.

The new single is called “I Think We’re Past Now” and features the legendary Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross from Nine Inch Nails and is available on all streaming platforms and YouTube. Antonio explains the process of creating this new song, “Trent and Atticus sent me a sketch of just voice, a click, and the synth line that can be heard in the beginning of the track. I edited the beautiful raw material that Trent and Atticus sent me and shaped it into an actual song. This tune is a total head-banger and I hope all my drumming friends dig it.

I have been working on this record for three years, it is my most important album so far. My idea for Shift was for the voice and the drums to be on equal footing in the music. I didn’t want to have a bunch of drum solos, but I did want the drums and the voice to be the primary focus. Although the album is very drum heavy, it’s all about the music and the groove. SHIFT (Bad Hombre Vol. II.) is producedin a way that brought me back to my early days. When I was young, I was inspired to play along with big and lush musical productions. This was an opportunity to go back to my rock roots and make a sonically satisfying album with a lot of production.”

SHIFT (Bad Hombre Vol. II.)will be released on August 26th on Warner Music.
