Pearl Drums at NAMM 2015 (VIDEO)

In this video from NAMM 2015 Pearl’s Kevin Packard gives us a rundown on the latest offerings from Pearl, including the new Wood-Fiberglass series, Crystal Beat series acrylic drums, Chad Smith’s Free Floater Signature snare drum, Masterworks custom kits, and the new Reference Pure series.

The Wood-Fiberglass series come with 7-ply shells (six core wood and one fiberglass), hybrid edges, and are available in three-piece shell packs (rack, floor, and kick). Offered in four finishes including platinum mist, antique gold lacquer metallic, and satin cocoa burst, these drums are said to have a loud attack with a shorter sustain.

The reissued Crystal Beat seamless acyclic drums come in five different reconfigured shell packs with 45-degree bearing edges. The version shown integrates Pearl’s shock-mounted LED band lighting system. Advertisement

Chad Smith’s Free Floater Signature snare drum with its “tricolon” shell (“I came, I saw, I conquered”) has arrangeable nesting shell-rings made of steel and brass and is limited to fifty pieces in the US.

Next up is a Pearl Masterworks custom maple-mahogany kit with carbon-fiber inlays, Redline gaskets, and Arch ARL lugs.

Lastly we look at the Reference Pure series drums which expand on the previous Reference series by adding vintage depths and shells that are said to be better suited for the studio environment.
