Drummer Blog: David Frangioni

Hello Fellow Drummers, my name is David Frangioni and I started playing the drums at age two. I lost one eye to cancer shortly thereafter and realized music is my passion. After years of my childhood playing, practicing, studying with Alan Dawson and Joe Morello, along with a drive to be the “world’s greatest drummer,” I found myself passionate about music technology.  I immersed myself into technology and since the mid-80’s, have been fortunate to work closely with some great artists including Aerosmith, Shakira, Ozzy Osbourne, The Rolling Stones, Ringo Starr, Sting, Elton John, Styx, Journey, Bryan Adams and Cher.

Charity work is important to me, so when I was asked to be a part of the Little Dreams Foundation, I was honored to join.

In 2000, Orianne and Phil Collins founded the Little Dreams Foundation in Europe. LDF selects talented, underprivileged children in music, sports and art to mentor them throughout the year.  At the end of the year, the music kids perform at a gala concert event, like a graduation of sorts.  This year, LDF moved to Miami and I was asked to be their Musical Director. We’re presenting the LDF charity concert on December 6 at the Fillmore Miami Beach.  Phil Collins is headlining along with Laura Pausini, Alejandra Guzman, Jermaine Jackson and other special guests.  I’ll be playing the drums with an amazing band in support of all the artists.

If you are in town, I hope that you can make it to the show and support the Foundation. It will be a special night and the more drummers that we can fit into the Fillmore at one time, the better!
