In our second tribute segment to Ringo Starr, we feature ex-Chicago/CTA founder Danny Seraphine, ex-Billy Joel/current Slim Kings’ drummer Liberty DeVitto, and Vanilla Fudge/Cactus/Rod Stewart legend Carmine Appice.

Seraphine, who was in town for two shows at the Iridium in New York City, stopped by the Modern Drummer Symposium at this year’s Fest For Beatle Fans to share how he met Ringo for the first time and how Ringo’s drumming influenced him. Liberty DeVitto then recalls the power of seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan for the first time, getting infected by Beatlemania, and playing along to Beatles records. And finally, Carmine Appice explains how he came to appreciate Ringo as one of the greatest rock drummers of all time, and shares a funny story about his mom, his brother, Vinny, and John Lennon.
