Chuck Silverman Memorial at Musicians Institute May 14, 2014

Latin-drumming ambassador, famed educator, and longtime Modern Drummer contributor Chuck Silverman passed away on May 1, 2014. Friends, fans, and colleagues of Chuck’s are invited to celebrate his life this Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Musicians Institute concert hall at 1655 N. McCadden Place, Hollywood, California. Doors will open at 8 pm. Attendees are welcome to share stories and memoriesand jam alongside the school’s Latin LPW faculty band.

“Chuck’s absence has hollowed the halls and classrooms at Musicians Institute,” says MI vice president of academic affairs, Donny Gruendler. “He had an immense passion for teaching, towering presence, and charming sense of humor, which altogether made you want to hang out, learn from, and chat with him for hours.”

In lieu of flowers, donations to a scholarship fund can be made in Chuck’s name. The scholarship will be managed by the non-profit 501(c) 3 the Musicians Foundation, and 100% tax-deductible contributions can be made via two methods. Advertisement
