Radiohead Drum Tech Scott Johnson Killed in Toronto Stage Collapse

On Saturday, June 16, only an hour before the gates were to open at Toronto’s Downsview Park for the last show of Radiohead’s North American tour, the top portion of the stage collapsed. Radiohead drum tech Scott Johnson, thirty-three, was killed in the accident, and three others were injured. Authorities are working to determine the cause.

In a statement on Radiohead’s website, drummer Philip Selway says, “We have all been shattered by the loss of Scott Johnson, our friend and colleague. He was a lovely man, always positive, supportive and funny; a highly skilled and valued member of our great road crew. We will miss him very much. Our thoughts and love are with Scott’s family and all those close to him.”
