Andrew Weber of Green or Blue

Drummer Andrew Weber of Green or Blue

Hey, MD readers! My name is Andrew Weber. I’ve been drumming for the past ten years, and it has been the most rewarding thing I have done in my life.

I started playing in my freshman year of high school. During that time I was interested in learning some sort of instrument, although I was in the school choir. I purchased my first pair of drumsticks and a small practice pad just so I could start getting down the basic patterns and rhythms of drumming. I became hooked on watching videos of Steve Jordan and Keith Carlock, which helped a lot, and a few months later I got my first PDP maple kit. I still play it to this day, and I can’t be happier with how it sounds.

I started performing and doing studio work for a few local solo artists and bands while I was in college. It was by far the most eye-opening experience, and it taught me how to become a more dynamic and responsible drummer. Some very talented people, from engineers to guitar and bass players, vocalists, and other drummers, surrounded me. I’m grateful to have been a part of their work over the years.

In 2012 I joined the band Green or Blue, which I am still in to this day. I’ve heard the phrase “proud to be part of something great” from others along the years, and I didn’t know exactly what that felt like until I joined this band. I play alongside Matt Nicolae (vocals/guitar) and Ben Gorham (piano/vocals). They are the most talented musicians I have ever worked with, and they are, more importantly, brother figures to me. We wrote a handful of songs throughout the years and never did anything with them but record a few live videos. In the middle of 2013, we started a project on Kickstarter to help raise money for us to go into a professional studio and record a full-length album. The project was funded, and we got to record at VuDu Studios in Port Jefferson, NY with Mike Watts. We released our album, A Shot Below the Moon, and it was an amazing journey for all of us and is something I will never forget.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. It’s truly an honor and a privilege to be on a site like moderndrummer.com, as I’ve been a reader of the magazine for years. I hope you look us up and listen to some of our music. We’re on iTunes, Spotify, and Bandcamp.
