Scorpions Packing It In After More Than 40 Years
German rockers the Scorpions have announced on their Web site that their upcoming March release, Sting In The Tail, will be their last.
“We want to end the Scorpions’ extraordinary career on a high note,” reads a message on the group’s homepage. “We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we’ve always had since the beginning. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will start in our home country, Germany, and take us to five different continents over the next few years.”
The Scorpions, which formed in the late 1960s and released their first album, Lonesome Crow, in 1972, have also posted bits from two new Sting In The Tail tracks, “Raised On Rock” and “The Good Die Young.” The band, featuring drummer James Kottak, who’s been in the lineup since 1996, kicks off its lengthy final tour in May.
