Ndugu Chancler Receives KoSA Lifetime Achievement Award

Bookmark and Share

Session drummer, percussionist, producer, writer, and vocalist Ndugu Chancler has played with artists as diverse as Bobby Hutcherson, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Carlos Santana, Weather Report, Patrice Rushen, Tina Turner, and Frank Sinatra. And let’s not forget his famous groove on Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.”

Chancler’s work as an educator has earned him a Lifetime Achievement Award from the KoSA International Percussion Workshops. The award, presented at the 2009 KoSA Summer Workshop in Montreal, cites Chancler’s “invaluable influence on generations of drummers,” and congratulates the regular KoSA instructor “for surpassing the boundaries of musical genres as a true master in the art of ‘groove.’”

For more information on Ndugu Chancler, read his artist bio on tocapercussion.com. For more information on KoSA workshops, visit kosamusic.com.
