Drummer Blog: Jerod Boyd of Miss May I

What’s up Modern Drummer readers? I’m Jerod Boyd and I play drums for a band called Miss May I. We are a metalcore band with quick riffs, heavenly harmonies, and heavy drumming!

I remember eight years ago getting my first drumset from my mom for Christmas. It was a red Groove Percussion kit from Walmart. But, boy, did I love it! After starting up marching band in high school I just had to get a new drumkit. I wanted something amazing, so I got a Pearl Session Custom kit. It was a great kit for my sixteen-year-old self at the time. I toured with that kit for a bit, but soon after I endorsed a different company and I had to sell it. It was a great kit, and I learned so much on it. RIP “Green Machine.”

Currently, I endorse Tama, Zildjian, Vic Firth, and Remo. I’m in my sixth year of heavily touring all around the world, and we are supporting the band August Burns Red on the Frozen Flame Tour.

Thanks fellow drummers and MD readers for taking time to check out my little story! To follow me go to twitter@jerodboyd.
