Our October 2014 Spotify Playlist kicks off with some great live cuts, including cover star Ian Paice’s famous solo vehicle, “The Mule,” from Deep Purple’s seminal in-concert recording, Made in Japan. We stay in the land of the rising sun for track two, a live take of “Elevate,” the lead-off track from Mike Portnoy and the Winery Dogs’ Unleashed in Japan 2013. Next up is Ben Thatcher and Royal Blood’s Spotify Sessions performance of their break-out song, “Out of the Black” (look for more with Thatcher in a future issue of MD), and Tal Bergman’s kaleidoscopic performance on Rock Candy Funk Party’s “Octopus-E,” recorded at New York City’s Iridium club.
