Call of the Wild
Leave Your Leather On

Well, Call of the Wild drummer Allison Busch sure got it right in her blog a couple weeks ago: The band’s sound definitely comes out of Motörhead, Thin Lizzy, and other straight-up, balls-to-the-wall rock outfits. This is pure, take-no-prisoners rock ’n’ roll—no unnecessary flash, no gimmicky effects, just a fast and furious bass/drums/guitar attack set on stun. Leave Your Leather On squeezes eight solid hits of aural adrenaline into twenty-four minutes, and Busch never once backs off the accelerator. Her double-time energy on “Breaking Shit” is the kind of thing I wish you could bottle; assuming she never looses her hell-for-leather spirit, no band that Busch is involved in will be accused of slacking. Read Allison’s blog here, and for a good representation of her band’s approach, watch this performance from the Secret Project Robot in Brooklyn this past May 26.
