Hair Bands and Metal Drummers Stick it to Breast Cancer!

Venues in Corpus Christi, Dallas, and Fort Worth will host the Crash Gordon’s Breast Cancer Can Stick It! fundraiser, which will include block parties, concerts, raffles, silent auctions sponsored by Diamonds in the Rough Sports Memorabilia, contests, food and beverage specials, and special fundraiser events, like kissing booths with Metal Shop singer Michael Diamond and event founder and drummer, April Samuels (aka Crash Gordon).

Samuels survived triple-negative breast cancer. She’s now two years cancer-free and back to bashing the drums for tongue-in-cheek ’80s hair band Metal Shop, as Crash Gordon. Says Samuels, “I want people to see me as proof that you can rise above, survive, and defeat whatever plagues you, mentally or physically.”

The first event will take place on Saturday, October 12, at 7 pm, at the Brewster Street Ice House (1724 N. Tancahua, Corpus Christi, TX). All ages are welcome and attendees should wear pink to qualify for the Pink Out! contest. The event will be filmed for inclusion in a documentary DVD benefitting the Breast Cancer Can Stick It! foundation. Sponsors include Drum Talk TV, Drumiture, Silverfox drumsticks, Rock ’n’ Roll Fantasy Camp, Soultone cymbals, Cantu Chevrolet, and 106.5 radio’s the Shark. General admission tickets will be available in advance or at the door for $10 each with VIP passes available only in advance (price to be announced). Advertisement

Komen Dallas County “Race for the Cure.” In addition to the previously mentioned activities, this event includes Pin the Bra on the Hottie, as well as a Mrs. Texas International autograph/photo booth. The night will be emceed by Tasha Stevens of 100.3 JACK FM and Newsradio 1080 KRLD. The third event will be held on Saturday, October 26, at 8 pm, at Eagles Nest Sports Bar and Grill (8455 Boat Club Road, Fort Worth, TX). The date will commemorate Samuels’ third anniversary of her breast cancer diagnosis. Activities and sponsors for this event are identical to the Wizard’s event.

The mission of Breast Cancer Can Stick It! is to raise awareness and funds for a cure by orchestrating energetic, unique, music-minded events. Funds raised from the events in October will go to the Breast Cancer Can Stick It! Susan G. Komen Dallas County Race for the Cure Team. Advertisement
