Fourth Annual International Regina Drum Festival

Fourth Annual International Regina Drum Festival

The International Regina Drum Festival will take place September 26–28 at the Exchange and the Club, located at 2431 8th Avenue in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.

“Along with expanding the event to three days, the weekend will be very musically diverse, with everything from metal, jazz, fusion, and pop, to funk, R&B, rock, Latin, and world music,” says organizer and founder Jayson Brinkworth.

On Friday, September 26, Herman Matthews (Tower Of Power, Tom Jones) will kick off the weekend with a clinic on being an in-demand drummer as well as a performance with the festival’s house band.

A clinic presented by Regina’s own Chris Dimas takes place on Saturday, September 27, along with a double-drum performance with Chris and Regina’s Ross Bart. Next up is Toronto drummer Pete Alexander and then the metal stylings of Matt Greiner (August Burns Red). Saturday concludes with R&B great Gerald Heyward (Beyoncé, Mary J Blige).

On Sunday, September 28, the festival will knock your socks off with Cuban drummer Dafnis Prieto (Michel Camilo), Tom Brechtlein (Chick Corea, Robben Ford), and the legendary Bernard Purdie (Aretha Franklin, Steely Dan) playing with the Regina Drum Festival house band. There will also be an expanded tradeshow, the Vintage Drum Expo, Stickman Drum Corner, Fastest Hands Competition, and much more. Advertisement
