Anton Fig Signs With Evans and PureSound

Drummer Anton Fig Longtime Late Show With David Letterman drummer Anton Fig recently joined the artist rosters for Evans drumheads and PureSound accessories. Fig has appeared on the nightly CBS program since 1986, and during this tenure he has played with dozens of renowned artists, including Miles Davis, James Brown, Bruce Springsteen, Steve Winwood, Bonnie Raitt, and Tony Bennett.

As a studio musician, Fig has recorded with Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Kiss, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, Gary Moore, Spider, Ace Frehley, Joan Armatrading, Rosanne Cash, Joe Cocker, John Phillips, Warren Zevon, Sebastian Bach, and Paul Butterfield. As a freelance drummer, Fig has also played live with Paul Simon, Booker T and the MGs, and the Thompson Twins, and he played alongside Jim Keltner for Bob Dylans 30th anniversary concert celebration.

Fig’s his first solo record, Figments, includes appearances by Richie Havens, Brian Wilson, Ivan Neville, Sebastian Bach, Ace Frehley, Al Kooper, Chris Spedding, Donald Duck Dunn, Blondie Chaplin, Paul Shaffer, Chris Botti, Randy Brecker, and Richard Bona. Advertisement

Fig’s drumhead selection includes G2 clear tom batters and G1 clear bottoms, GMAD bass drum heads, Power Center Reverse Dot snare batters, and J1 Etched on the timbale. “Evans make the drums sound alive,” says Fig. He also uses PureSound’s 14″ steel and brass snare wires.
